MGS 2015 Annual General Meeting.
Due to the MGS constitutional changes passed at the 2014 AGM on October 18, the fiscal year has changed. Previously it was August 1 to July 31, but will now run from April 1 to March 31 each year. Thus the AGM must be held at an earlier date than usual. It is scheduled for Saturday, June 6 – mark your calendars. Constitutional Notices of Motion will be presented and the new MGS Executive elected.

Introduction to Genealogy
Genealogist Elizabeth Briggs will show you how to trace your family tree using family and public records. You’ll learn the types of genealogical resources, how to record your information and will be introduced to selected online resources. This workshop is in two parts. Genealogist Kathy Stokes will outline a brief history of tombstones and grave markers, where they began, what materials were used, the various styles and how they have changed over the years. Examples from Manitoba cemeteries will be used to illustrate the various features.

Randy Ranville of the Metis Resource Centre of Canada will present the various resources available to anyone interested in researching their Metis ancestry. MGS Council meetings: MGS Council meetings are scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at the MGS Resource Centre at 10:00 am.
