Generations

The Society's quarterly journal entitled Generations provides articles on genealogical research methods and sources; additions to the MGS library; results of member's individual research; and information relating to Society business and events. Although publication policy emphasizes Manitoba subjects and themes, articles of general genealogical interest concerning other provinces and locations are often included.

A special feature of the journal is "Generation Gaps", a queries section where individuals may seek the help of others researching similar names and locations. Members are permitted one free query per year; additional or non-member queries are $3.00 each. Queries should be typed or printed and sent to The Editor, Generations, c/o MGS, Unit E - 1045 St. James Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 1B1.

Paid advertising in accordance with MGS policy may be accepted in Generations. Contact the Editor, Generations as above for advertising rates and guidelines.

Members, and anyone else with an interest in genealogy, are welcome to submit articles or news items to the Society at the St. James Street address. Manuscripts or other articles for publication should be prepared as a Microsoft Word document, as a Rich Text File (.rtf) or as a Flat File (.txt).  You can submit by e-mail or send it in on disc to the above street address. Please give appropriate credit when reprinting excerpts. Publication deadlines are Feb. 15, May 15, Aug. 15, and Nov. 15. Although effort will be made to preserve accuracy, the MGS cannot accept responsibility for errors found in Generations.
